Strong framing and separation lines are used to create and question the concept of separation.
Several questions arise. For instance, is the photographer separated from the subject? Are people today separated from each other, isolated, particularly though modern digital technologies? Is the algorithm becoming the ultimate or fatal form of separation?
Beyond the lines, there is a hope for unity. The open sky makes this clear. There is an optimism and a push back. Perhaps separation is illusory, artificial, easily scaled if we choose to do it?
